Hand embroidery - redwork

I've started a redwork lapquilt or crib quilt. It's called sunbonnet girls by Jack Dempsey needle art. I think I got it about 10 years ago at BenFranklin Crafts for $5. You don't have to buy a pattern though, that's part of the beauty of hand embroidery. I hope to get into that more later. Hand embroidery is something that I love, love, love to do. Being a true crafter I float from one project to another but I always come back to embroidery. I love trying to make my stitches small and even. I get excited to try new stitches. I like that it doesn't have to take a lot of fancy, expensive tools. It's not especially messy, and you can embroider anything on anything - well almost anything! So far I have used the following stitches: split stitch, chain, backstitch, lazy daisy, french knots and stem stitches. Let me know if you want tutorials on any of the stitches you see, I'd be happy to post them.
